Mercedes Download Manager Basics

Prepare the USB map package first, then order the activation code for the same NTG, region and map version.

What Mercedes Download Manager is used for

Mercedes Download Manager is used to prepare the map update storage medium for a manual navigation update. The important point for ordering is simple: the code must match the map package that was prepared for the vehicle.

Before payment, check the NTG generation, region and version selected in the update tool. If the USB package is created for the wrong region or a version that the vehicle cannot install, the car may reject the update or ask for a code that does not match your order.

Recommended workflow

  1. Log in to the Mercedes account area or the relevant map update tool for the vehicle.
  2. Select the vehicle and choose the manual map update path if it is available.
  3. Select the correct NTG generation and map region.
  4. Prepare the USB drive or storage medium using the tool instructions.
  5. Insert the USB in the vehicle and wait for the update prompt.
  6. Order the map code only after you know the version and region that the car is trying to install.

USB drive and file system checks

Map packages can be large. Use a reliable, good-quality USB drive with enough capacity for the selected region. Full-region updates often require much more space than a single-country update. If the update tool formats the drive, let it complete the process instead of manually copying partial files.

If the car does not detect the USB, check the port, drive quality, file system and whether the update package was written completely. Some vehicles are sensitive to low-quality flash drives or interrupted downloads.

Region and version are critical

Do not choose a map region based only on where the car is currently located. Imported vehicles can be configured for another market. A car originally configured for Japan, Korea, Southeast Asia or North America may reject a European package unless the head unit is compatible with that region.

The version is just as important. If the order is placed for one version but the USB contains another, the activation code may not be accepted. Write down the version exactly as shown, for example V25, V19.1 or V30.

When the car asks for a license key

During a manual update, the vehicle may ask for a Map License Key, PIN or activation code. That prompt is the right moment to order. The order form on NaviCode Online asks for VIN, device type, region and version so the result can be generated for the exact update flow.

After successful payment, the portal displays the result on the payment success page and sends the same information to the order email address.

Common preparation mistakes

  • Ordering before the USB package is ready.
  • Selecting the customer's country instead of the car's navigation region.
  • Using a map package that is newer than the head unit firmware supports.
  • Removing the USB drive or turning off the vehicle during installation.
  • Copying only part of the downloaded map package to the USB drive.
