NTG5.5 Map Update Guide

NTG5.5 map update checklist for COMAND Online vehicles before ordering a map activation code.

NTG5.5 update overview

NTG5.5 is a late COMAND Online generation used before Mercedes moved many models to MBUX. Manual map updates are normally installed from USB and can require a map activation code matched to the VIN, region and version.

If your car asks for a Map License Key, Navi PIN, activation code or PIN code during the USB update, order the code only after confirming the update package details.

Typical NTG5.5 vehicles

NTG5.5 is commonly seen on late COMAND Online vehicles such as W213 E-Class, selected W205 C-Class facelift variants, W222 S-Class facelift, C257 CLS, X253 GLC facelift, X290 AMG GT 4-Door and selected later W463 G-Class vehicles. Exact fitment depends on model year, market and vehicle equipment.

Because retrofit and market differences are common, do not rely only on the model name. Confirm from the vehicle interface, update package or support before payment.

Preparation checklist

  • Use the correct COMAND/NTG5.5 map package.
  • Check the vehicle VIN carefully.
  • Choose the region accepted by the car.
  • Use the exact map version shown by the update package.
  • Keep the vehicle powered during installation.

Common NTG5.5 problems

If the USB is not recognised, the file system, USB quality or package preparation may be wrong. If the update starts but the key is rejected, look first for a VIN, region or version mismatch.

Imported NTG5.5 vehicles can also have region limitations. A car configured for Japan, Taiwan, Southeast Asia or North America may not accept another market's package without additional work.

Large version jumps

When a vehicle is many map versions behind, a direct jump to the newest release may fail on some systems. If the update package is rejected before the key prompt, the issue may be compatibility rather than the activation code.

Order flow

Use the public order form, select NTG5.5, choose the region and version, enter the VIN and complete payment. After processing, the result is shown on the website and sent to the order email address.

If you are unsure about the generation or region, contact support before ordering. A wrong code cannot fix an incompatible map package.
